We reached a milestone last week and bottled our first wine at Rathfinny.
A still wine which we’ve chosen to label under the Cradle Valley name, so not to confuse the consumer about Rathfinny being a sparkling wine producer. It’s a blend of Pinot Blanc and Chardonnay. It’s a very nice wine, but I would say that wouldn’t I?
You will have your first chance to try it at our classic music concert at Rathfinny on the 12-14th June.
We’ve bottled about 5,000 bottles and we will be selling it from the Gun Room from mid-June onwards.
It was all hands to the bottle, even Georgia, our office intern, helped out with the bottling.
We will be bottling our first Sussex Sparkling wine in few weeks time – It’s a ‘Blanc de Blanc’ (100% Chardonnay). It will be released in late 2017/early 2018, once it that has been through its secondary fermentation and has been left in the bottle, on the yeast lees, for about three years. The base wine tastes wonderful, can’t wait for the sparkling…
In the meantime come and try our Cradle Valley at the Gun Room or why not get a ticket for the Classical Music Festival but be quick the tickets are selling out fast especially for the Saturday night to hear the ‘Rhythm of Silence’ which premiered at the Charleston Festival last Sunday. It’s a wonderful, haunting performance piece, which connects Virginia Woolf’s ‘The Waves’, with Benjamin Brittan’s Phantasy Quartet, both written in 1931/32. It is completely original and a must see performance.
