Supporting the Community

Each year, we ask our Rathfinny team members to nominate a charity of their choice that we can support. Our team are super engaged with fundraising efforts for causes close to their hearts. It’s a democratic process where we each vote from a long list until we have a few focus charities for the year.

As a result, events and fundraising efforts are reserved for these chosen charities. To ensure these charities have our full attention, we sadly do not have the capacity to support with additional donations and initiatives.

If you want to find out more, please feel free to contact info@rathfinnyestate.com but we kindly ask that you do not send donation or sponsorship requests. Thank you for your understanding.

Charity Support 2023-2024

This year we are delighted to be supporting a handful of local charities based in the Sussex community nominated by our team.

Rockinghorse

Nominated by Brand Ambassador Richard & Maxine from the Cellar Door. Our donations contributed to raising £11,600 towards the 'Christmas Star' campaign, supporting children and their families who are in Hospital over Christmas. They deliver gifts to children, put on Christmas parties and festive activities, Santa visits and dogs cuddles in the hospitals. This also includes delivering meals and hampers on Christmas day.

Havens

Nominated by Amy from the marketing team. We donated some Sussex Sparkling prizes to help support vital fundraising efforts for this local food waste rescue mission during the winter period, raising £600! Our talented Executive Chef, Chris Bailey, also made some delicious soups using donated produce to raise money at the Havens Halloween event.

You Raise me up

Nominated by Gill from the reservations team. We worked with this fantastic local charity, based in Hailsham to donate an auction prize which generated enough funds to pay for 22 counselling sessions for bereaved parents who have lost a young person in their lives.

Cycling Without Age

Nominated by Beth from the Vineyard. This fun initiative run run by volunteers takes older people and those with mobility difficulties out on ‘trishaw’ cycle rides. The local Seaford base is hoping to raise enough money to build a secure unit to store their trishaws at a permanent site so we donated Rathfinny wine to support their fundraising events.

WOLO

WOLO is an Sussex-based cancer charity, supporting families affected by cancer. In April, we host a half marathon and 10k race around the Vineyard in aid of WOLO. Spaces are limited and the race is designed to raise money for a good cause whilst focused on being environmentally friendly. Every aspect is considered to create a zero-waste race, from reusing trail signage and banning plastic cups at refuel stands, to edible energy bar packaging, car sharing, tree planting initiatives and and handmade slate medals made from old shoelaces. Plus, so much more! We can’t wait for next year.

Cork Keyrings for Charity

Thank you to all our lovely customers who purchased a keyring from our Cellar Door shop made from repurposed sparkling wine corks. We raised £600 for the East Sussex Branch of the Coastguard Association! This year, proceeds will now go to a charity called Flysheet Camps that offers holidays to young people between the ages of 8 and 16. During these holidays, they are given the opportunity to play team games, sing around a fire, cook in groups and learn woodcraft skills. These, along with other activities, help to build a sense of community amongst individuals who might otherwise not have the opportunity to do this.
