So if you read Sarah’s recent blog you’ll know that for the last three months I’ve been fulfilling a childhood ambition to sail across the Pacific. Not to outdone by my youngest son who is on a gap year before heading to Manchester University in September, I thought I’d take the opportunity to travel before we launch our first sparkling wine next year. We set off from Cartagena in Colombia, passed through the Panama Canal to the Galapagos Islands and then on to French Polynesia. It was the most amazing trip and so much has happened since I’ve been away, we stayed in the most beautiful place, you can View the resort here if you are interested.
The vineyard has taken off – we managed to avoid the late frost that devastated so many vineyards across northern Europe. Flowering finished about two weeks ahead of last year and fruit set seems to be very good so this bodes well for this years crop.
We’ve bottled our 2016 Cradle Valley white wine, which is a blend of Pinot Gris and Pinot Blanc and we’re releasing it this weekend at Alfest Festival. You can taste it at the Gun Room, it’s rather good.
And the new buildings that will provide a wine store and house our bottling/labeling, riddling and disgorging equipment have started to go up.
It’s all go at Rathfinny and everyone has worked really hard to keep the show on the road whilst I sailed across the Pacific..
So thank you team.. Good job
