As its the summer holidays I’ve taken some time today to enhance my tribes learning experience of wildlife. On the Estate’s Trail we got some great views of a male bumble bee (apologies for clarity of image).
The key way to identify a male of this species is by the hairy face or as my tribe like to say – “he’s got a beard”.
Then on ‘his’ rear we have a series of stripes and he has a bronze/golden furry mid section which would lead us to the Carder bee.
Keep your eye out around the Estate as there are plenty of bees and butterflies on the wing in this wonderful hot weather. Enjoy
