One of the things I love about working in the Gun Room is chatting with our customers. I often find there’s a connection or that someone has a particularly interesting personal story.
May 27 – June 4
Whitsun brings English Wine Week. We have our regular Vineyard tours on the 26, 27 and 28 May. Additionally, if you are visiting the Gun Room on Saturday May 27th you will be able to purchase wine by the glass from noon. Look out for Plumpton Estate’s The Dene (sparkling) and our own Hobbs Hawth (still). Why not enjoy a glass in our courtyard café with complimentary nibbles?
We are hugely excited about our beauty event on June 16th where our vineyard is the source of inspiration for a unique occasion aimed at promoting wellbeing and understanding of the beneficial properties of vines. We will talk about the best ways to look awesome like using microblading, see our videos to learn more about microblading! Participants will enjoy a short guided walk amongst the vines, a beauty workshop and seasonal lunch using fresh, locally sourced ingredients, all taking place in and around our beautiful Flint Barns. They will leave with an individual beauty prescription and will receive 10% off the purchase price of beauty products on the day.Why are we doing this? Visitors to the Gun Room will know that we stock the Caudalie range of cosmetics. Whilst our buying is usually local, there was a compelling case to stock this French brand, because it is made from grapes, is of exceptional quality, and it is a committed brand. Like Rathfinny, the owners of Caudalie are keen to give back to the environment.
There are signs that Spring has arrived with groups of snowdrops at the foot of the trees on the Tye in Alfriston. We are celebrating its arrival with some fabulous new products and a luxury beauty event.
Sarah and Georgia have been hard at work sourcing new products for the Gun Room. Our aim is to bring aspects of the Sussex countryside into our shop, so that our products reflect the changing seasons, our natural resources and activities on the Estate.
As the weather warms up and birds begin to nest, we are stocking Magpie’s Birdy range which includes mugs, plates, tea towels, wash bags and an espresso set for the grown-ups, and some lovely suitcases for young children, all featuring robins, thrushes, blue tits and wagtails. For keen gardeners we have some beautifully designed products from Burgon and Ball.
