Rathfinny Wine Estate

Alfest 2017

With the longer evenings and the hint of warmer weather it’s a reminder that the festival season is almost upon us. We are definitely not on the scale of some of the more established festivals, but even so we have the pleasure of co-sponsoring Alfest again this July along with The Star and Long Man Brewery.

We had amazing feedback and support from the local community last year and raised much needed funds for St Andrew’s church. We listened to that feedback and have made alterations where we could but in essence we have kept to the same format as last year and the principle of a family friendly food, drink and music festival celebrating all the that the South Downs has to offer.

We have a fabulous music line up this year. Once again Chris Difford (Squeeze) has helped us by bringing new acts, Robbie Cavanagh and Robert Vincent whilst Andrew Rumsey is returning with his band The Effras. We are really lucky that Chris will also be performing for us again prior to his national tour later in the year with Squeeze. We have local soloists too with Will Read and Andy Brown. There will be some great sets from bands Guido and the Hell Cats and Kindred Spirits. We also have two incredible female singer songwriters. Polly Paulusma and Katie Buckhaven, the sister of our very own Rathfinny Brand Ambassador, Rob. Whatever your taste in music there is something for you, so you can sit back and relax in the sunshine taking in the splendid surroundings of the Tye.

One thing we will not be short of is food. We have more than doubled the food stalls on offer this year so we will not run out!

Hearth Pizza, Humble Pie, Nutilicious and Mini Mouthfuls are all making a welcome return and in addition to them you will find Forgotten Cuts, French Revolution crepes, Pig and Jacket and Jimmichurri with more to be announced.

Needless to say there will be a plentiful supply of beer, wine and maybe the odd Seven Sister’s Gin Cocktail!

So plans are coming together nicely and all we need now is the weather to be on our side too, we would love to increase the donation we made to the church last year.

Look out for more details about the acts, running order and food stalls on the Facebook page (@alfest2017) and on Twitter (@alfestmusic)
