Directions to Rathfinny Wine Estate

Before planning your visit, please take the time to consider your travel plans to the Estate. We have outlined below transportation options, recommended taxi firms and directions to different venues across the Estate.

Please be advised to pay close attention to signage across the Estate. As we are a working Vineyard, this will keep you safe and guide you to where you need to go.

Please note, we do not accept drop in coach parties without prior reservations.

How to Navigate the Estate

RATHFINNY WINE ESTATE.

Exit the A27 to Alfriston on Alfriston Road (on the turning to Drusilla’s Zoo). Pass through Alfriston village and then pass Deans Place Hotel on your left and Riverdale House B & B on your right. 50 metres after Riverdale House there is a large drive to your right which is the entrance to Rathfinny Estate.

THE OFFICE.

Follow the drive to the top of the hill where you will see the Estate Office, it is the second building on your right.

WINERY, TASTING ROOM, THE HUT & CELLAR DOOR.

Beyond the Estate Office, approximately a mile along the track, you will find our Winery which houses the Tasting Room and Cellar Door. The Hut is situated on the grassy bund overlooking the vines. Feel free to collect a map from the Cellar Door.

THE FLINT BARNS & RATHFINNY COTTAGE.

Beyond the Winery, drive through two large buildings named Bottling and Cellar. Continue along the track for another half mile until a left hand bend and you will see the barns with a red roof.

NB: LARGE VEHICLE ACCESS. If you are arriving at the Estate in a large vehicle/HGV you MUST approach the Estate from Seaford. Exit the A27 at the Beddingham roundabout, A26, direction Newhaven and Seaford. Follow signs to Alfriston and Alfriston Road. Once you have passed the right of way for you then look for a large drive on your left, approx 100m.

Transport Options

As a B Corp, we always encourage car sharing and public transport wherever possible but appreciate this isn’t always convenient. We have installed an electric charging point (located in the parking bays outside the Cellar) that guests are welcome to use.

Train.

The nearest train stations to the Estate are:

Polegate (15-minute car transfer), Lewes (20-minute car transfer), Berwick ( 10-minute car transfer) and Seaford (10-minute car transfer).

Lewes, Polegate and Berwick stations are easily accessible from the London Victoria line with no change overs required. It takes approximately 1 hour 15 between Victoria and Berwick. If you are travelling via Brighton, there is a direct train to Seaford (approx. 40 minute journey) or you can change at Lewes to get to Berwick or Polegate.

Taxi.

If you are travelling by taxi, please be advised to book ahead of your visit as these firms do get booked up in advance. We recommend the following:

Please be advised, we currently do not offer a shuttle bus service around the Estate nor between stations so it is your responsibility to navigate the Estate. Hopefully this is something we can introduce in the future. We’ll keep you posted.

CYCLING.

The Estate is popular with cyclists who often make diversions from the routes across the South Downs National Park.

Car.

We have several parking options around the Estate, depending on what venue you are visiting. Please always stick to the single track road that runs throughout the Estate. Do not drive into the Vineyard or into the South Downs. All parking is free. Please follow the signage carefully around the Estate to guide you.
