2020 Vintage
Tasting Notes
At this stage of its development there is weight and fullness to the palate, typical of the vintage. Red fruits dominate, with a clear underlying strawberry character, supported by some graphite. The palate shows more citrus and has a good, persistent length. The mousse is mouth-filling and the flavour profile as a whole is beginning to show some autolytic development.
The Vintage
A very dry spring affected yields, but the warm summer produced grapes with intense flavours and moderate acidity.
The dry spring weather, coupled with low carbon and nutrient stores in the vines after the bumper harvests in 2018 and 2019, meant that berry size and yield were down in 2020. This has resulted in wines of great concentration and ripeness, but a limited production run.
