Tasting Notes

At this stage of its development there is weight and fullness to the palate, typical of the vintage. Red fruits dominate, with a clear underlying strawberry character, supported by some graphite. The palate shows more citrus and has a good, persistent length. The mousse is mouth-filling and the flavour profile as a whole is beginning to show some autolytic development.

Tractor Among Vines

The Vintage

A very dry spring affected yields, but the warm summer produced grapes with intense flavours and moderate acidity.

The dry spring weather, coupled with low carbon and nutrient stores in the vines after the bumper harvests in 2018 and 2019, meant that berry size and yield were down in 2020. This has resulted in wines of great concentration and ripeness, but a limited production run.

The price of the wine is £29 per 75cl bottle (£44 RRP upon release). All Rathfinny Reserved wines are sold ‘under bond’ which means the wines are stored in our secure temperature-controlled Cellar and once the wines are released in 2024, excise duty and VAT will be payable. You will be notified when this payment will be required.
