It’s great to see that all the flooding that has been around Alfriston is starting to dissipate, from our view on the hill it looked like the whole Cuckmere Valley was one big lake. Thankfully the wind and rain has abated this week and we are seeing more traditional wintery days now. It’s a little bit too chilly though for Spike, so we might have to buy him one of those little dog jackets – Rathfinny branded of course!! Apparently Jamie’s Springer Spaniel has a quilted puffer jacket but he’s not admitting to it!
It’s also pleasing to see the mornings are starting to become lighter a little bit earlier each day and also the nights are starting to slowly becoming lighter later on. It’s been a quiet four weeks for us at the Flint Barns with our main tasks getting the deep cleaning done around the building, replenishing stock, updating our seasonal menu and getting ready for the New Year. 2016 promises to be a busy one for us here at Flint Barns.
We have more of our ever popular Sunday Roasts coming up this Sunday on 17th & also for 31st Jan – there are a few places left still if you are interested in coming to join us for a tasty roast lunch. The café is still open as well over the weekends and on Fridays 10am to 4pm. Please don’t forget that the Flint Barns are situated in a wonderful protected landscape and access by vehicle is by permission only. Just call us up on 01323 874030 to find out what is on and how best to get here. The supper club is all but ready and I will pass on details of this next week to all who have subscribed to the Flint Barns mailshot, if you haven’t yet joined then you can do so by emailing me on firstname.lastname@example.org.
We still have our sale on in the Gun Room in Alfriston, up to 50% on some items, well worth popping in to see what they have on sale and also to grab a great coffee and homemade chocolate brownie.
With Half Term approaching fast we have again decided to open the café everyday throughout the school holiday – we’ll have loads of winter favourite meals on and we are going to introduce our homemade burgers and pizza to the half term menu for you all to enjoy. Don’t forget the café is inside during the winter and we have the log fires going and daily newspapers, jigsaws and games for you enjoy at your leisure. There is also some spare room in the Flint Barns over the half term so if you want to get away and relax just give me a call or drop me a line.
