Incoming to the Tasting Room on 27th September is the Michelin-starred team behind Norwegian restaurant, Gaptrast. For one night only, the crew will be swapping the fjords in Bergen for the Seven Sisters in Sussex, serving an eight-course tasting menu as we welcome the start of harvest on the Vineyard.

About Gaptrast

Kristian Vangen, co‑founder and Executive Chef at Michelin‑starred Gaptrast, brings wild Nordic terroir to life through a theatrical tasting menu. With charcoal‑fire technique at the heart of his modern cuisine, he champions seasonal, locally sourced ingredients—fresh from Bergen’s farmers, hunters and fishers—with precision, passion and sustainability in every course.

Did you know: a ‘gaptrast’ is another name for a fieldfare – a hungry, vocal bird in the thrush family that migrates from Scandinavia to the UK from September through to the winter months. Fieldfares can be spotted on the Vineyard so it’s only fitting the team should fly south this autumn!

Grape picking in England

Harvest at Rathfinny

Each year, Rathfinny welcomes British pickers, predominantly from the local Sussex community, to hand-harvest each grape. This is an essential element to maintaining quality as we are a single-site, grower-producer crafting vintage wines with Sussex PDO status.

2025 marks 11 years since the first harvest at Rathfinny. To celebrate, we are welcoming a range of chefs from interesting restaurants where our wines are served to bring you new pairing combinations.

After all, Rathfinny Sussex Sparkling is a gastronomy wine that is best enjoyed with food.
