Meet Huw. Huw joined the Winery team for our 2020 Harvest at Rathfinny, having just completed a three-month harvest at Zimmermann Graeff Muller in South West Germany, working as a Vintage Winemaker.

Huw’s career in viticulture began when he took a sabbatical from a history degree to travel to South Africa where he found work in a vineyard. This experience led to an interest in viticulture and a subsequent change of career path. Huw returned to the UK to study at Plumpton college during which time he worked at Rathfinny as part of the Vineyard team from Jan 2015 to June 2017 before graduating with a BSc in Viticulture and Oenology in 2017.

After graduating, Huw spent time in California, South Africa and New Zealand working during harvest as a cellar hand before returning to the UK to work as an Assistant Winemaker at Fitz Vineyard.

Huw is looking forward to a well-earned rest having worked two back to back harvests this year which can total 12-14 hour days. Thank you for your work Huw!
