It’s true that in Britain we drink around 100 million cups of tea a day, but we’re also consuming more English Sparkling Wine than ever before! Both are a splendid accompaniment to an afternoon tea, combining tradition with new tastes and experiences. This year, Afternoon Tea Week runs between Monday 8th to 14th August so here are some of our recommendations of where to enjoy a sparkling afternoon tea.

The Cadogan, A Belmond Hotel

We recently popped into The Cadogan and were blown away by their new afternoon tea called Maison Lounge. Freshly prepared each day by Head Pastry Chef, Pierre Morvan and his team, the experience is opulent and elegantly presented on an ornate golden cake tier. Perfect for a special occasion, the menu includes classic finger sandwiches filled with honey roast ham, cucumber and dill and roast beef and horseradish, followed by scones and exciting sweet treats including sunflower and lime cheesecake and elderflower and grapefruit tart. The afternoon tea is paired with an optional glass or bottle of Rathfinny. A vegan menu is also available.

The Orchid Tea Room at Fairmont Windsor Park is a truly unique space to enjoy an afternoon tea, paying homage to the original owner’s love of orchids that they collected from around the world. On the menu they have coronation chicken sandwiches, prawn and crayfish tartlets, scones tea cakes and sweet treats such as caramella and milk chocolate éclair and citrus tart.
