Ade’s blog…

I was out last night with a couple of my Rathfinny colleagues, we went out on a nice little bike ride around High & Over and then to Firle Beacon, down to the Old Coach Road and back to Alfriston – we stopped in one of the locals and had a great beer from the local Longman Brewery, a perfect evening! High & Over is a truly great place for walking too – often Spike & I can be found around there having our evening walks that lead down to the Rathfinny Trail, which is a fantastic walk around some of the vines and past the Flint Barns, all the signage is in place to guide you along the trail and you end up walking to the Flint Barns Café.

The café is open currently on Fridays, Saturdays & Sundays 10am to 4pm and at the end of July it will be open 7 days a week serving our rather Tipsy Tea, afternoon tea, Vineyard lunch and of course our very popular paninis. We also have a great range of fruit/herb teas as well as our fantastic coffee machine producing sumptuous cappuccino, latte and espresso to go with our rather tasty cakes!!

Come on the trail and pop in to the Barns to say hello and grab a coffee!! The café will be closed on the following dates though as we have two wedding receptions in early August – the dates are 30th July, 1st Aug & 2nd Aug also 7th, 8th & 9th Aug.

Meanwhile… In the Gunroom on the 18th July we are holding our ‘Summer Shopping Event’ here you’ll receive 10% off purchases (apart from wine), demonstration & tasting of award winning blossoms syrup, Caudalie Beauty Event* and of course you can taste our first release of still wine – Cradle Valley

*Booking essential for the Caudalie event. Please call 01323 870022 to book your free half hour consultation. Limited places available

I’m really delighted to tell you all that the Flint Barns won their first award on Thursday 9th July. Richard James, Environment & Operations Manager and I attended the annual Sussex Heritage Trust Awards http://www.sussexheritagetrust.org.uk/ at Pangdean Barns near Brighton.

Both the Winery and Flint Barns won their categories. A great way to be awarded and true recognition for all those involved.

A beautifully executed project from design detail to construction which blends so sympathetically with its environment… deserves universal praise
