Rathfinny Wine Estate

Lady requires new home

As we fast approach Christmas I was rather surprised to find this little ‘lady’ tucked in a vine!  Pruning has commenced on the Estate by Cam and his team so someone had better mention this to this insect.

We’ve had a couple of frosts, but over the last few days the temperature has become rather mild and the weather has been very wet.  Ladybirds actually hibernate over the winter months in their adult form and sometimes in large congregations to add an element of central heating.

Unfortunately this young ‘lady’ has a short term tenancy.  Anyone else seen any peculiar insects or sightings in and around the Estate?

Please let me know via twitter @rathfinnyrich

Have a great Christmas.
