Even though the weather is still hot and rain is a distant memory, flowers are abundant through out our vineyard and the Rathfinny Trail. Above we have a different view of the pyramidal orchid. A distinctive deep pink to purple with a dense floret head.
Below is another orchid, which has just ‘gone over’ (flowered) and is often seen just before the pyramidal one flowers – these are seen predominately off our Rathfinny Trail where the land has not been cultivated over the centuries.
This is the fragrant orchid, both are commonly associated with calcareous grassland.
