Rathfinny Wine Estate

Egyptians are arriving

If you’re a regular follower of my Estate sightings you will now realise that the title may have a really tenuous link to the content.  I make no apologies.

Here is the first Pyramidal orchid emerging for 2016 on the Estate (now you see the Egyptian connection!).  A distinctive bright pink orchid which is fairly common and the shape of the flower head is where the name comes from.

If you take your eye away from the orchid and look at all the greenery, you can really understand why chalk grassland is so important – just look at all those different leaves, grasses and flowers.  Incredible.

I’ll see if I can grab some images of the insects which may be visiting this bountiful flora and post them on this page….
