Happy New Year!
I spent most of the festive period on the Estate. It was a quiet time for me and gave me time to reflect on what has been achieved in restoring the Flint Barns to what we have today. So much hard work, dedication and passion has been put in by so many people. It also gave me time to think about the exciting future ahead for us all here on the Estate.
The main news is that the Flint Barns website is about to go live! You will soon be able to see how gorgeous it is inside, get information on the accommodation available, at reasonable prices, read about our locally sourced, home made food and make a plan to come and visit this ‘home away from home.’ It’s ideally placed for those who want to visit the area and walk the South Downs. At the moment there’s contact information for bookings but you’ll be able to do it online from the end of January.
Another exciting 2015 event will be the opening of the Rathfinny Trail which will enable members of the public to walk through certain parts of the Estate and also have the opportunity to enjoy a Winemaker’s lunch or Tipsy Tea at the Flint Barns – watch this space for further information coming soon.
Whilst walking Spike over the festive period I bumped into a few people walking around Hindover Hill and also at the back of the Estate towards Alfriston, many of them asked about the Winery, the varieties of grapes we’ll be growing this year and the important question of when will the wine be ready? I did tell them to all keep an eye on the blog for further information and Mark duly obliged in his last blog – see Mark’s blog below.
We also still have vacancies at Rathfinny to work in the vineyard helping to prune the vines. Equipment will be provided and full training given. Flexible working hours with ongoing work until the end of February at the earliest. If you are interested in coming to work on the Estate then please email on email@example.com or contact Cameron at Rathfinny Estate, Alfriston, East Sussex, BN26 5TU Tel 01323 871 031
The Gun Room in Alfriston Village now has its January sale on, if you are in or around the charming village why not pop in and meet the team whilst having a good browse around the bargains? Ranges include books, glassware, seasonal food items, selected Caudalie products and stationery all with a 30% discount until the end of January. Come and have a look and pick up a bargain. We will be stocking our new ranges very soon.
